Traditional Thikr session tonite

Posted by Shu'aib Gamildien on Thursday, November 3, 2011 Under: Activities
The custom of engaging in group Thikr (remembrance of Allah) on Thursday nights is a long standing cultural tradition amongst the Cape Muslims from Malay, Indian and Arab ethnic origin. Tonight we will engage in this tradition for a number of reasons - 1. To bring the family and friends together in remembrance of Allah, 2. To honour and pray for the pilgrims in Mecca performing the Pilgrimage, 3. To pray for the deceased and 4. We do a prayer for Muslims in general, local and international.
This prayer session includes the recital of the Quraan and reciting the Names of Allah in different formats.
